Parsa National Park is one of Nepal’s least-explored but biologically significant protected areas. Covering 637 sq km in the south-central Terai, it is directly connected to Chitwan National Park and India’s Valmiki Tiger Reserve, forming a critical part of the Terai Arc Landscape.
Once a royal hunting ground, the area was declared a wildlife reserve in 1984 and upgraded to a national park in 2017. Today, Parsa plays a vital role in safeguarding large mammals and preserving one of the last contiguous expanses of Sal forest in the region.
