Established in 1973 and awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1984, Chitwan National Park is Nepal’s premier destination for jungle safaris. Situated in the subtropical Terai lowlands, it spans over 950 sq km across Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Parsa, and Makwanpur districts. Chitwan offers an unparalleled wildlife experience, where guests can witness rhinos grazing in open grasslands, tigers prowling through dense sal forests, and crocodiles basking along riverbanks — all within a few hours’ journey from Kathmandu or Pokhara.
The park’s terrain is diverse, featuring riverine forests, floodplains, grasslands, and oxbow lakes, making it an eculogically rich sanctuary. Chitwan also serves as a biulogical corridor for species moving between India and Nepal.
